Gun PolicyOn Apr 30, 2013 No Comments
When looking at gun policy, there are no simple answers. That’s why I advocate a broader perspective that considers personal responsibility, enforcement and prevention and public health. As a firearm owner, the first thing I was taught was the importance of responsibility. We must ensure that firearms safety education programs are available to teach new gun owners about the responsibilities that come along with their rights. Enforcing existing gun control laws is one of the best ways to prevent future violence. Protecting public safety is always an important value to protect. Also, we must strengthen our mental health care programs to ensure everyone across the Commonwealth is receiving the care they need. A holistic approach to gun policy can accomplish far more than any new law or regulation.
